Hostage in Our Own Home
Since we have returned from our trip to Kentucky last weekend {I will fill you in on that later} it has been FREEZING and yucky all the time. I have pretty much only left the house once in TWO weeks, other than taking and picking up Isabelle from school {which I can see from my house so 5 minutes a day?} We are ready for warmth and sunshine and blues skies and ice cream and cook outs and pool parties and play dates and vacations and Do I need to keep torturing us all?? You get the picture...we are ready to be OUTSIDE of this house!!!
While trapped inside, we have been finding different ways to amuse ourselves.
Isabelle, as always, has been the most creative. She spent an afternoon saving wild animals by pulling them to the safety of her "treehouse".
We made plates of "food" for her friends and she treated them all at her new restaurant..there may have been a line out the door.
Jude was supposed to be the chef, but he is easily distracted.
What have I been doing all this time? Well, I have been putting in some serious sweat equity on the house {read about that here}, attacking the always overwhelming pile of laundry, doing my taxes, and coming up with every possible combination of chicken and tortilla you can imagine {again, I will share those later too} to avoid actually leaving the house to get more groceries.
Come on Spring...I would like to leave the house again before my kids go off to college :/

Fun With Glow Stick Lanterns
Besides drooling over home decor and making myself hungry looking at recipes on Pinterest, I love finding fun things to do with the kids. We have made toys trapped in ice, glow sticks in the bath tub, and cook our own play dough on the reg. I find glow sticks at both the Dollar Tree and Target for super, super cheap, so I always pick a pack or two up when I see them. We decided to clean out some old jars and make our own Glow Stick Lanterns!
First, clean out some jars and remove the labels. I used 2 baby food jars and one jalapeno jar.
Gather your glow sticks. We used a pack of 18 and 1 jumbo sized one.
Starting with the large jar, we cut open all of the orange glow sticks and placed them inside, shaking out the contents.
We then divided the rest into the other smaller jars, closed the lids, then shook.
Our kitchen counter looked like a scene out of CSI when we were finished.
Isabelle had a blast doing it, it helped pass some rainy time, and I didn't have to hear one word about being afraid of the dark that night!!

Sweet Kids
The kids have been up to all kinds of things lately. A lot of Isabelle's time lately has been strictly focused on Diva like activities. While I was organizing my bathroom drawers {I will show you soon} she found some fake eye lashes and begged me to put them on her. So, I finally gave in and did her up, lashes and all and then took her request even further by appeasing her with a "cheetah girl" photo shoot.
She has also had some fun putting on her own make up, make up on her doll "sister", lathering herself in lotion, wearing perfume, and sneaking into moms closet for shoes and jewelry.
When Isabelle is not thinking about being a diva, the next thing on her mind is animals. We have had a lot of bird activity in our yard lately.
We are members at our local zoo. On Friday nights in the summer time, the have Safari Nights where the zoo is open from 5-9 and they have live music, face painting, animal encounters, free carousel rides, and of course all of the regular zoo activities all free to members! So, we made our first visit this past Friday.
While I do my chores and projects, the kiddos are very "helpful".
We have been finding fun ways to beat the heat lately.
This is one of those things I saw on pinterest, but then forgot about until I saw that one of my fellow bloggers at Love is the Same did it for her son and it seemed to be a big hit!
Isabelle had some fun crafts to do thanks to a package from Mamaw and Papaw Myers.
Isabelle LOVES the nook and often falls asleep with it or finds new places to hide with it.
I love my Sweet little humans. They are always keeping me on my toes...with a smile on my face :)

We had the same result at our house!! Just take a plastic container, fill it with water, add a couple drops of food coloring, throw in some toys, freeze, and viola!!
I got through an entire chapter in my book in the time it took Isabelle to break all of her toys from their icy prison. We have done this several times since.
Jude has been spending A LOT of time working his way around the living room floor and let me tell you, he is QUICK! After he pulled the vacuum on top of himself we had to come up with a solution for when mom cant look every second.
