Mommy School..Zoo Week

This week was our first week of Mommy school. We had a really great time learning all about the Zoo. We got some of our lesson ideas from the Z is for Zoo packet and others we came up with on our own.

Letter of the week: Z
Number of the week: 6
Shape of the week: Circle

We worked on several worksheets pertaining to our theme for the week..

The number six
I found this website, thanks to pinterest, that turns any letter, number, or sentence into hand writing worksheets

We posted her work up on the wall as a reminder of what our themes were

Working on making her Z's

Working on her "Things that start with Z " book

We also made several snacks and meals with our theme in mind...

Animals in the "mud"

animal cookies in icing mud
Our next snack doubled as snack and an art project. We "painted" animal cookies...

Ready to "paint"

Water with a couple drops of food coloring

Dry and ready to eat

Circle Snack...Ham, Turkey, Cucumbers, and Yogurt

We also worked together to make Cheesy Bacon Bites which were perfect for our shape of the week, the circle.

Cheesy Bacon Bites

You will need...

* One package of cream cheese
* One can of cresent rolls
* Real bacon bits
* pepper
* onion powder or finely minced onion {your choice}

Start by softening your cream cheese. Then add bacon, pepper, and onion powder { I do all of this by eye but I would estimate a 1/2 cup of bacon and then pepper and onion to taste} and mix all together.

Next, you want to unroll your crescents into 2 sheets...

You then want to pinch closed all of the seams...

Then, spread cream cheese mixture evenly over both squares...

Next, you will want to roll them up...

And slice them into one inch pieces and place them on a cookie sheet...

Bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10-15 minutes or until the tops are nice and brown...

We also dropped our food coloring paint onto paper towels to make tye dyed fabric, made playdough and used it to create animals with cookie cutters, played elephant soccer, and sorted animals into piles based on their habitats { I didn't get pictures of most of this}

We also had plans to go to the zoo and have an animal scavenger hunt. Unfortunately, it rained EVERY SINGLE DAY this week so we weren't able to make it :(  I'm hopping we can find some time for it next week during Valentines Week.
