Play Dough Play Date

We have had a ton of storms in South Florida the past couple of weeks and this has kept Miss Isabelle and I indoors..A Lot. So, today I thought we would make some playdough! We have done this before ( by we I mean mostly me) but Iz is hard on playdough and it dries out fast so I thought we would make a new batch and share the how to's for of you out there who may want to try it yourself!

First step, gather your ingredients..

You will need..
* 2 cups of flour
* 1 cup of salt
* 2 cups of warm water
* 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
* 1 tablespoon of cream of tarter

Combine all of the ingredients togther into a large pot..

Then place pot on stove top, on low heat, until mixture begins to thicken and pull away from the sides..

Remove from heat and dump onto counter top or wax paper. Knead the dough until it is smooth then roll into large ball..

At this point, you can color your entire ball of dough or split up for mutli colors..

After separating the ball into equal smaller balls, you are ready for the color. Poke a whole in the middle of your ball and then drop in a couple drops of the food coloring, then knead together until consistent..

*Note*..The coloring can become quite a mess so if you would like you can mix the color and dough in a plastic baggy or in wrapped cellophane...We just go for it :)

After I have all of my dough colored, I like to separate it out one more time into 2 containers lined with a damp paper towel..

Now you have one for now and one for next time..

Now kiddo gets to play and mom can get some work done :)
